Hello!
Is your family celebrating a birthday, a reunion or a marriage? Canvas Creek can add a unique element of fun and capture the event in a colorful and creative way!
Weddings- imagine the bride and groom's parents coming together to create art for the couple’s new home. It is a true blessing of the union and a reminder that together we are stronger than alone. Receptions- What fun to have everyone at the reception or rehearsal dinner add their name, wishes or unique design to a canvas then give it to the couple. The bride chooses the colors, the guests make them impactful. Blending families? Canvas Creek is a wonderful way to bring individuals together to create shared art for everyone to enjoy. People from different backgrounds can live together, but sometimes it takes a little creativity! Milestones- Sixteen year-olds at a birthday created two pieces of art, including Peace and Love. At the end, everyone wanted to do it again. Oh, did we mention they worked in silence? Imagine your teenagers being silent, and not because they aren’t speaking to you! Just because- Be the cool people in your group. Have Canvas Creek set up a painting event for you and your friends! Enjoy the rave reviews and art for years to come! Goodbye.
Approaching difficult milestones with grace and creativity makes them easier to bear. We work with therapists and hospice services to help families move forward.
Headed to college- Gather family, childhood friends, maybe a teacher or two to celebrate your student and to create art for the dorm. It will be colorful comfort, and a creative reminder that where you have been sets you up for where you are going. Divorce - We first started working with families in divorce when a mom contacted us and said “I need my kids to accept this is where we are and to know we will be okay.” Together, with anger, resignation and finally collaboration, they created art for their new home. The canvas included the words hope, joy, love, together and their names. Did it work? The 17 year-old boy ran out of the basement, during a tornado scare, to save their painting. We think it worked. One year later they painted again- a happier, lighter painting. It was wonderful to see! Hospice- It is powerful when family and friends come together for an event that is a celebration of color and feelings. We will help you capture handprints, names and loving words about the loved one in joyous color. The final canvas can be kept intact or divided into pieces and shared with everyone. We were very touched when one participant chose to have the smock she wore painting with her family as her farewell clothing. Donna has ALS and her caretaker said "she didn't smile much before this day, now she does every time she looks at her painting." Click for Donna's movie |

One Family's Story
A son leaving for the middle east. A son graduating from high school. Parents who will be empty nesters. It's a lot of changes, so the mom, Gini Mermel, decided to celebrate the changes by stopping for a couple of hours and creating art together. Here are her words and their video: "Thanks again for a wonderful experience on Saturday. My family thoroughly enjoyed it. They loved the activity; the painting is propped up against the couch in our living room/great room at the moment. Gary keeps saying how much he loves the painting. The boys do too. Kevin proudly showed it to two of his high school friends who visited yesterday. I'm pleased because I got my message to the boys into the painting: You can always find love and support at home. They are always in my heart and part of me, just as we were when I gestated them (the hearts within hearts). And love travels. In other words, wherever they go my love for them goes with them. I did not think about what I wanted to paint ahead of time because I did not want to taint/skew the experience. All of us want to come back and do it again at some point." |
